Our activities strive to prepare children for school and life, to grow healthy and strong and develop to achieve their potential.  We have a variety of FREE or low cost inclusive programming and activities, thanks to our generous supporters and donors, available for children ages 0-6 years, some can be attended with siblings and parents. We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities, which can be documented on a resume to assist with Canadian experience, these roles include interacting with children, resource preparation, snack preparation, site maintenance and more.

ADULT LEARNING COURSES

CEPP/STEPs

Candora Employment Preparation Program (CEPP/STEPs) is a part-time program for women in north-east Edmonton.  This program is designed for low-income women who have little or no work experience and require additional support in their job search.  Employability sessions cover a range of topics including career planning, goal setting, work search techniques, interview preparation, resume and cover letter, customer service, and personal management skills such as problem solving, feedback, organization, and time management.  The program includes:

 

  • A minimum of 20 hours of work experience upon full acceptance

  • 40 hours of PAID work experience over the course of the program and upon full acceptance

  • Short training courses as required (First Aid, WHMIS, Food Safety, etc.) and based on participant interest.

 

CEPP is a five-month program that takes place twice a year.  Jobs Club is also provided.  Registration occurs September and February.

 

STEPs is a ten-month program designed for women who need extra literacy and/or English Language Learning support.  Computer training is also provided.  Registration is open from September to March.

The Candora English Language Learning (ELL) Program is a ten-month part-time program designed for people who are interested in learning English or improving their English skills in the following area: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. There are three levels of learning available.

CARING FOR CHILDREN WORKSHOP

This program is for adults with interest in a career in childcare. Nine week program to prepare individuals in the field of childcare.

Included in this course:

 - Practice English language learning

 - Explore careers in childcare

 - Build a professional portfolio

 - Receive first aid certification

EmpowerU - Women's Saving Group

Would you like to learn more about money?

 

Empower U – Women’s Saving Group is a financial empowerment program that helps participants increase their knowledge, tools, and access to resources to meet their financial goals. It combines financial education, financial coaching, and matched savings.

 

Group sessions include:

  • Exploring our relationship with money

  • Income & taxes

  • Budgeting

  • Banking and financial services and savings

  • Credit basics & credit reporting

  • Debt
